Stingray is able to deliver a broad range of capabilities by leveraging the expertise, resources and facilities of its key partners. This business model provides Stingray with access to capabilities and expertise normally only found in much larger organisations.

Stingray’s technology partners provide access to scientific and technical skills and facilities across a very wide range of disciplines, including optoelectronics, lasers, sensor design, signal processing, marine systems, mechanical engineering, physics, semiconductors, electrical and electronic engineering and materials. Stingray’s business model enables us to access these resources on an “as-needed” basis.

Stingray is small enough to care but, with its partners, competent to deliver.

Stingray’s primary technology partner is QinetiQ, one of the world’s largest technology organisations with over 12,000 scientists and engineers. Operating principally from the UK and North America, QinetiQ provides research, technical advice, technology solutions and services to worldwide. While its core market is defence, it is increasingly working to transfer its expertise and capabilities into adjacent markets such as energy and the environment. Through the partnership with Qinetiq, Stingray is able to access a wide range of technical expertise, as well as extensive, and often unique, laboratory and test facilities.

Atlas Elektronik (UK) Limited is Stingray’s partner for the engineering and manufacture of seabed arrays. With almost 20 years’ experience manufacturing fibre-optic systems for harsh environments and a 15,000 m2 engineering, qualification and manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales, the company brings world-leading capability and resources to the Stingray team. The Newport facility includes cable manufacturing lines, sensor winding machines and extensive integration and testing facilities, including large scale ovens, pressure chambers and tension rigs. Atlas Elektronik is at the forefront of sub-sea fibre-optic sensing, communications and cable handling systems for the defence, communications and offshore oil industry, and has delivered systems globally. Atlas Elektronik is a joint venture between EADS and ThyssenKrupp.
Bergen Oilfield Services (BOS) is Stingray’s seabed equipment installation and seismic acquisition partner. BOS is an offshore seismic survey company with a focus on subsea technology commercialisation. BOS manages the whole marine operations value chain from vessel ownership, equipment installation, data acquisition through to processing; ensuring a high quality, on time response. The organisation is driven by the quality of its services, the continuous pursuit for innovative solutions and the expertise of its employees who, in past careers, have delivered a variety of seismic operational innovations, including some of the first ocean bottom cable installations.

Stingray has contracted the fibre-optic sensing specialist company Sensoptics to design and build the production, interrogation and recording systems in use in the Fosar system.

Stingray also works with other technology organisations to source best-in-class expertise and resources as required. These include the technology management companies Sagentia and Battelle, the Optoelectronics Research Centre and Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton University, the National Physical Laboratory and Cardiff University.

Stingray Geophysical also partners with other leading specialist organisations in order to deliver complete world-class solutions to meet the needs of client’s specific circumstances and business and technical requirements.
