Solutions - An Overview
Stingray’s core intellectual property is advanced fibre-optic seismic sensing - “listening with light” to enable cost-effective seismic permanent reservoir monitoring (seismic PRM).

Advantaged
Based on unique technology originally developed for defence applications, Stingray has developed the proprietary Fosar® Seismic PRM system.

The system has been designed with a highly efficient optical architecture that allows a very high number of sensors to be multiplexed on a small number of optical fibres, meaning that large sensor arrays can be constructed with only a small number of optical fibre connections needing to be made. This makes Fosar a very cost-effective, robust, lightweight system with very low topside power requirements. The system is modular, so can easily be scaled to support a broad range of field requirements.

The Fosar system is simple to install and operate in water depths up to 3,000m.

Proven
It has no underwater electronics, so is inherently more reliable than seabed seismic systems that deploy electrical components subsea. The system uses passive fibre-optic components, which have proven to be highly reliable during their use by the telecommunications industry over the last quarter of a century. This means that component, and therefore system, failures are very rare. In the unlikely event of equipment failure or physical damage, the modular nature of the system means that it can be quickly and easily replaced. The Fosar system has a twenty-year design life for reliability and durability in harsh subsea environments.

The FosarDeep system, rated to 3000m water depths, is currently under development.

Complete PRM Solutions
Working closely with an established network of technology partners, Stingray is able to provide a broad range of Seismic PRM solutions. The business model is flexible, from the provision of individual components up to a complete, managed, integrated Seismic PRM service that may include:

  • Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED)
  • Fosar equipment (seabed arrays, surface interrogation systems, seabed-to-surface connections)
  • Installation of seabed and/or surface equipment
  • Seismic data acquisition
  • Seismic data processing
  • PRM answer products
  • Project management
  • Project finance
